Normain is fast-growing, early-stage AI company automating knowledge work. About the Role

This role represents the ride of a lifetime, and an opportunity to have unparalleled impact. We’re on the brink of a massive growth journey, so this is about building a deep-tech product from scratch alongside the Nordic's best tech talent. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it—with a massive upside for the initial team, both financially and recognition-wise.

In this role, you will work closely with the whole team, but especially with our technical Co-founder Kalle Hansson. Kalle has almost 20 years of experience from full-stack development, and spent most of his time before Normain as CTO & Co-founder at other tech startups. Together, you will form our core Engineering team. You will work broadly with implementing features required to deliver on Normain’s short-and long-term roadmap. It will be fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding.

What you’ll do

Feature development

• Drive Normain’s innovation by implementing cutting-edge features into our platform and its infrastructure, working with the latest AI tech.

• Contribute to shaping Normain's technology foundation, focusing on scalability, security, and operational excellence to deliver on our ambitious product roadmap.

AI solutions

• Translate complex AI concepts into intuitive UX designs, ensuring our technology is accessible and impactful for niche consulting firms.

• Optimize AI output and model performance, employing the latest techniques like RAG and, prompt engineering, and—later down the line— fine-tuning to deliver scalable solutions.

Technical skills

We believe you have

• Proficiency in TypeScript, with extensive experience in building robust and scalable web applications.

• Experience with React.

• Proficiency in building and maintaining APIs. Experience with Node.js or other server-side languages compatible with TypeScript.

• Strong experience from working with SQL databases.

Extra points if you have

• Experience using Azure's AI solutions

• Experience from self-hosting LLMs

• Experience in using tRPC

• Experience with integrating GenAI APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini and/or Mistral) and/or working with AI/ML models.

• An understanding of AI/ML concepts and experience in applying them to real-world problems.

Soft skills

We believe you have

• Experience from working in fast paced, cross-functional teams where you collaborated with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.

• A strong sense of ownership and accountability.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Extra points if you have

• Proven leadership experience in a senior engineering role.

• Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and influence the technical direction of the company.

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Other qualifications

We believe you have

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

• A graduate degree in engineering or similar discipline from a tier one university.

• Experience from working at a technology startup, and like the rapid pace.

Extra points if you have

• Experience from navigating through a high growth phase of a startup company.

• Experience from taking a product from zero to one, i.e. laying the very foundation of a product in a rapidly changing environment.
